Lay chelas can be married.

And before being lay chelas we may have to spend a few lives (you never=20
know) as ASPIRANTS to lay-chelaship (lay-discipleship).

Buddha's legend -- a legend and no more, like the one on Christ - makes him=

abandon family as a symbol or metaphor for detachment.

Yet I agree with the fundamental view which you gave us.

Most things are gradual aslong the path, and every "defeat"  is but the=20
preparation for a better
victory later on.
