THE POPE IN AUSCHWITZ

A GERMAN POPE AT THE CONCENTRATION CAMP

Dear Friends,

Joseph Ratzinger, pope Benedictus, visited Auschwitz in Poland yesterday, May 28th. He apologized for the German violence against the Jewish people and for the millions of innocents killed by the Nazis.
It was an inter-religious ceremony which CNN International and BBC World showed live. Jews and Catholics were together praying for forgiveness and reconciliation in the world. Jewish songs/prayers wer beautiful.

The important symbol in the event was that Ratzinger personally fought as a Nazi soldier. He had to. Yesterday, he saw and talked to dozens of survivors do the mass killing.

Personally, I guess that Neonazism has no future. But democracy, peace and social justice with environmental protection -- they have a bright future.
Especially if people take advantage of the positive opportunities which are always present, hidden in every crisis.

As to Nazis and Neonazis, they can always change for the better.

Best regards, Carlos Cardoso Aveline.
