In spite of what is said below, there were no " claims" about the existence of Mahatmas in the period 1875-1891.  There were hundreds of evidences and dozens of personal and independent testimonies coming from by H.S. Olcott, A.P. Sinnett, Damodar Mavalankar,  Mohini Chatterjee, Laura Holloway, Subba Row and many, many others. 

To try to reduce (in a Thesophical List)  that impressive mass of evidences to merely "HPB's claims" --  is to lie in the face of theosophists.
