Re imprinting ideas inn the memory --- influencing the mind

Dear Friends:

As I see it, this is possible.

But, If we “the PERCEIVER and the WITNESS within” become aware of this
“imprinting,” it is clear that this entity (that we call our “mind”) is not
the supreme or only instrument we have in use.

The “Mind” [MANAS] is said in THEOSOPHY to be triple:

(1) pure uninfluenced tool for thought, mediation, mathematical usage, etc,
and is MOTIVELESS. [ It Is “pure MANAS.” ]

(2) Mind influenced only by virtuous motives, impersonal, unselfish, helpful
to others. [ In THEOSOPHY this is called BUDDHI-MANAS.]

(3) Mind influenced by selfishness – hence, vicious to some degree. [ Inn
THEOSOPHY this is called KAMA-MANAS.]

Please refer to the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB), particularly the tables and
commentaries
found in nd around pp,. 91-2, 135-6, 195-6.

A thorough knowledge of the 7-fold structure of each human MONAD is
invaluable to grasp THEOSOPHY -- as an actual living psychology.

Our modern psychology cannot be made to fit or agree with ancient and MASTER
PSYCHOLOGY.

In simple words: We choose to be virtuous or vicious (selfish). In the
past we have installed the tendencies in the "life-atoms" (MONADS of lesser
experience -- skandhas) . They become the carriers of our personal KARMA ==
and they are the filters we have installed and now have to purify by right
impersonal, honest usage.

The fact that all MONADS sprang into existence at the same moment in time,
makes our relations with them as that of "brothers." We, having longer
experience and having acquired the MIND faculty can reason out these facts
and choose.

The whole of THEOSOPHY will be fund to meld and agree without gaps or
guesses. But we have to know IT.

Best wishes,

Dallas

I'm not Gordon, but I had a thought I wanted to interject to your query of
Gordon's statement that

"Belief systems are imprinted in the brains neural network."

I agree. My reason for agreement is that after time, belief systems become
habits of thought. Thought patterns and emotions are kind of like firmware
in the brain. They are permanent like hardware, but can be changed with
proper thought and change of habit over time. For example, a person who is
habitually angry has a certain neural network that allows the anger
endorphins to be released. Over time, that habitually angry person is going
to find it easier and easier to be angry, and harder to express different
emotions.  I say anything that is a habitual thought pattern affects
(imprints) the brains neural network, at least temporarily.   And, not sure
why I believe it, but it makes sense to my pattern of neural networks!

Namaste,

Travis

My name is Rory McGovern, I have been reading some of your wonderful
responses for a while now and I have a few questions for Gordon
regarding his last response.

Do you have any medical proof of this or is this a speculative
conclusion, maybe a belief of your own?
