Jake: Meditating on a guru's image

Jake,

In your latest email, you write to me:

=====================================
I say, by all means, if you think
meditating on a guru's image is the
right thing to do, then by all means
do what you want! (I recommend you
visualize a big strong one, with long
hair and pearly white teeth.)
=====================================

No doubt, no doubt, you DISLIKE this
passage about meditating on a guru's image
and think the passage is phoney.

But other Theosophical students may differ with you.

For example, in one of Dallas TenBroeck's compilations
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theos-talk/message/29928>
of valuable quotes on "H P B and the MASTERS",
he quotes approvingly the following:

 ".the image of the Master is the best protection against low-er
influences; think of the Master as a living man within you." LETTERS
p. 164

The reference to LETTERS is to the Theosophy Company's edition of
LETTERS THAT HAVE HELPED ME.

See online TC edition at:

The above quote was ADDED to the Theosophy Company's edition by the
Theosophy Company editors from one of Julia's articles appearing in
THE PATH, September, 1890.

So it would appear that both Dallas and the Theosophy Company's
editors thought highly of the quote.

Food for thought.
