Re Spinks, Adyar pamphlets


    Spinks no doubt has much interesting 
to say in his book, but his idea of 
"Theosophical Unity" was for everyone to 
join the Adyar society, if I remember 
correctly.  He was big on correspondence 
also, and many of the theosophy magazines 
of the period have lots of letters and 
dispute on the issue.


    The Canadian Federation who is putting 
online the "Adyar Pamphlets" have some 
real gems on the site, and have saved a 
lot of valuable material (verbatim too!)  
But, unfortunately, the "Adyar Pamphlets" 
are about 90% written by Besant and 
Leadbeatter and their ilk, so are Neo-theosophy.  
The "Theosophical Siftings" that they are 
putting on were all published in the 1890's, 
when Blavatsky and Judge's influence was 
still prevalent, and so well worth 
downloading and saving, and even... reading!

     Does anyone know what happened to 
"The Canadian Theosophist," and if it 
is still being published?  After Ted Davy 
edited it for about 30 years, the new 
editors gradually turned it into an 
Alice Bailey publication, more or less, 
and don't know how long it contiued publishing. 
(It was the one long-running Adyar Society 
magazine that was strictly Blavatsky-oriented, 
and also supported Judge - for about 75 years.)  
A few years ago, I drove into downtown 
Toronto, Canada, and checked out the 
address where the old Lodge headquarters 
was (about 300 members at one time.)  
Of course that address is downtown Toronto 
now.  There was a parking lot there and 
an apartment building, and a porno shop 
a few hundred feet away.

sent him your question and here is his answer: 

<"Inasmuch as all of missing Adyar Pamphlets are now available to 
scan, proof-read and install - the missing ones will be posted before 
Christmas. They will be posted as they were published - and without 
additions or revisions as assumed by those who do not know or care to 
go to the source of the work preparation.

<There has been an emphasis at http://www.theosophical.ca on 
completing "Theosophical Siftings" and this will be done by the end 
of October most likely. After having installed the missing Adyar 
Pamphlets, we will start on with all of the 20 "Lucifer" volumes."
