GANDHI ON LEADBEATER

Friends,

Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of India?s independence, knew both Annie Besant and C.W. Leadbeater well.

And Gandhi wrote this about them:

?I do not think that Mrs. Besant is a hypocrite; she is credulous and she is duped by Leadbeater. When an Englishmen suggested to me to read Leadbeater?s ?The Life A fter Death?, I flatly refused to do so as I had grown suspicious of him after reading his other writings. As to his humbug, I came to know of it later.?

[?The Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi?, Vol XI, in a letter dated 8 May 1911. Quoted in ?The Elder Brother?, G. Tillett, p. 07.]

An honest man, Mahatma Gandhi also had a good deal of discernment.

Best regards, Carlos.
