But for Internet providing a platform for free speech, free thoughts, etc.
is something like what happened when printing was invented. Add to this is
the access to videos in cell phones etc. makes capture and communication of
info so easy.

Old-timers, many of those who grew up in pre-computer days and had lifelong
experience in structured and hierarchical/military type environment where
control of flow of information are at a loss how to move with times and deal
with the new environment. [There are a few exceptions like those who
participate in this and other forums on varied topics.] This is shown by
many leaders in and out of all organizations, espouse the idea of freedom of
thought, free speech etc in live lectures and print writings (again a
controlled medium), you will rarely see them in the internet forums. [I even
had the unique experience of dealing with a well known theosophical
personality who while all the time talking and writing about Internet,
always made it a point of responding to my fax messages by replying by laser
printed responses by snail mail with all the additional cost and time
involved.] Until and unless they come up to speed and deal with the
realities of information age, the Internet juggernaut is going to run over
them.

In the past, details of issues such as one one we are dealing with, would be
unknown to the individuals at large due to lack of vehicle to disseminate
info. This worked to the advantage of those who did not want the info to be
known outside their limited circle for reasons of their own.

As for publishing, I forsee in the future most material moving to electronic
media and hope the authors bypassing the publishing houses with all their
overhead and time delay. There have been some movement in this arena with
on-line publishing and I know of a school system where no one is provided
with printed books anymore; all students are provided with a notebook and
all texts are accessed in electronic medium, thus saving a lot of text book
cost to students.

Many here are tuned in and would be interested in further details of the
episode under discussions.

PS; I recall there was a statement in ML, that human nature in Adyar is same
that in London streets. So nothing should surprise anyone.
