I think no, the question is only with astral plane of the 
interplanetary space which is not so "thick". Yet this is a question 
which only an experiment can solve.
It is possible that an attraction of the astral body to its physical 
counterpart will be strong enough to keep connection in any 
conditions, even in the outer space.
We can consider a similar example of those people who lost connection 
with their higher selves, so their personalities (or rather kama-
rupas) are destined to go to the 8th sphere. Yet if the body still 
exists, it forms stronger attraction center than 8th sphere, ant 
that's why still in the bode man has the chanses to reunite with his 
higher self, and that's why vampires regard keeping their physical 
body important.
