Re "Phoney Letter" - Secretary point & Appolonius

I think Pt. Loma Publications has
a book currently in print about Apollonius
- Edited by Eldon and K. Small, I think.

Dan writes:

>Is Jake trying to tell us that Mr.
Judge was so careless and so
inattentive that he would not be aware
(as Outer Co-Head or Outer Head of the
Esoteric School) of what was published
in this Instruction with his own name
appended at the end?????

Yes, I think that is highly possible.
He likely prepared them long-hand, and
then had someone type them up. He was a
busy man. If he had previous reason to
trust the secretary, he may never have
proofed the copy, and never read the
paper the rest of his life - or ever
been questioned on this point. In The
Path, Judge remarks on passing material
on to secretaries. (Maybe Fullerton, who
deserted Judge's Am. T.S. later, Ver Planck
had vested interest in the "phoney letter.")
Judge refers to his secretaries in the Path:

"Branch Paper No. 6 was sent out
to the Secretaries on Oct. 4th. It
consisted of two papers, "Soul and Spirit"
by Mr. Henry T. Patterson, read before
the Brooklyn T. S. and the Aryan T. S.,
and "Union of the Manas with the Buddhi,"
by Mr. A. Fullerton, read before the
Aryan T. S." - pATH, Nov., 1890, p. 264
"Notices"

In the MLs, it says any average person's
mind can be "taken over" in a day.
(the "whites" don't believe in this.)
I worked on a personal copy of Garrangues
"Point out the Way" from ULT's original
mimeo copies - and there are numerous
places in there I'm sure some secretary
added material. This, or similar, or
worse, is attempted all the time in
genuine theosphical efforts. You mess
up the material yourself by removing eliasons....
TUP puts much great material on the net,
but even they can't stop themselves from
at least minor editing - I see Purucker's
"Questions We All Ask" is even edited online in
minor (?) wording from the original - which
was perfectly fine. Its like an obsession
that transcribers get!!

Idea: Maybe this supposed KH mss
is one of the supposed ingenuine letters
ascribed to Judge, that Besant and Olcott
were objecting to and caused the split
in the Society?

     Julia Ver Planck/Keightley Was Not
An Authority. She had good material and
not-so-good material like other aspirants.
If she was one that "applied for chelaship"
of the 72-73 that Blavatsky describes
in one of her articles - then she Failed,
because the only one out of that group
who was a real success was Damodar.

Vol III Echoes:

Dan writes:

>P.S. This photographic copy of the
2 pages from "Suggestions and Aids"
is taken from Volume III of Mr. Judge's
ECHOES OF THE ORIENT,<

This Facsimille is not in my 1st ed.
Vol. III "Echoes."

WAS BLAVATSKY AWARE?

Well, at the time, this material
was relative secret, and perhaps it was
a judgement call (perhaps is all there
is - you can't ask them) There were
hundreds of sincere theosophists perhaps
"off the beam" in one direction or another
- how could one deal with it all?

WHY DID DE ZIRKOFF CAST DOUBT ON THE
VERACITY OF SOME THINGS IN ES IV & V?
He was certainly someone who was an
"authority" on the literature.

WHY DID SPIERENBURG say the "phoney
KH letter" was one to Hume in 1882?

DAN WRITES: >In general, it is not
a stretch to suppose that Madame
Blavatsky read each and every issue
of THE PATH as it was published.<

I don't believe she did, almost
sure she did not - she had way to
much to do, writing from daybreak
'til night. As well.... people and
Ver Planck have the right to their
own statements, un-interferred with
by Blavatsky or anyone - unless it
gets toooo far outside the aims of
the society.

SHOULD A WOMAN CONCENTRATE ON THE
IMAGE OF A HANDSOME MAN? - I mean,
really.... where is the csommon sense?

"JUDGE THE ACTION, NOT THE PERSON..."
- This is just BS. If a person performs
enough nefarious actions, you know
what they are like, and Judge the person.
This doesn't mean than any person might
not still have the capacity for a noble
action - unless the inner spark is
completely snuffed out.

The real point in all this is -
that for anyone with any intution, and
has read the majority of the MLs-Blavatsky
-Judge writings - this few sentences, out
of context in the ES Instructions V - is
out of tune with the rest of the literature,
and just like a big dog turd dropped down
in the middle of a field of flowers. Of
all the literature, this is the only thing
I can recall having any objection to.
