Anand,
I am no friend to totalitarian atheist china but I do recommend a deeper investigation of the sphere of religion in china proper. In Bejing there is a Chan Temple that has been there for many centuries and was allowed to continue even during purge days. There are two forms of Christian Churches in china the moderated Christian Church which is posted by Ministers trained by the communist government and actual Christian Churches often called "Door Churches" that are posted by real Ministers who adhere to Christianity, these can be unsanctioned by the Chinese government. The Falung Gong has been suppressed but still preserves a following. The Analects of Confucius,
The Great Learning, The Doctrine of the Mean, and the Works of Mencius are allowed and considered national Treasures of China. I like "The Four Books" by James Legge, Lib./Congress # 66-16894, 1966, Paragon Books Reprint Corp. (Reprint of his 1923 Shanghai Edition.
The Chinese have clicked on Tourist interest in classical historic China and are restoring many Buddhist Temples using State Funding. Their motives may be devious and self serving but it also butters another side.

Regards,
John

It appears to me that religion has clearly failed in China. Perhaps
the solution is to revive some good religion like Christianity in
China. That will certainly give people required values to live and
code of conduct.
