It is interesting to see how ideas might have traveled. Five precepts
of Buddhism were present in the Ten Commandments of the Old Testament.
Old Testament existed many centuries before the birth of Lord Buddha.
Does that mean Buddhism took it's five precepts from Old Testament? It
is possible, but it could be coincidence.
Similarly many of the ideas of Buddhism already existed in Hindu
religion and spiritual traditions in India. Buddhism has rejected some
parts of old Hindu spiritual traditions, while maintaining many others.
Buddha had knowledge of Indian spirituality and religions. But so far
I never read Jesus had knowledge of Indian scriptures. And yet there
is great similarity between Christian practices and old Hindu
religion, despite few big differences.
