Brian,
Thanks for your explanations and comments and compliments. Not wanting to ignore your not wanting, can you explain what a "curate"is ? I have no familiarity with Henry's Church and I have malice towards him for chopping up my ancestors head. So your saying he became a Bishop ( the guide of souls) in the Liberal Catholic Church? Did the Pope do that? I know you hate to chat about Leadbeater but you probably have noticed that I do also simply by the lack of posts I make about him. I have yet to read Dr. Tilletts Thesis on him. Actually I dislike thinking about how many of his books I bought from rare book dealers many years ago lol!

Happy Pattys day to you,
John

Yes John, you will have to look into it. He left the Anglican Church as a curate when he contacted Theosophy. As a curate he would have taught the doctrines which he later rejected. He was consecrated into what became the Liberal Catholic Church which for years after had very close links to the TS; the Christian church at Adyar is a Liberal Catholic one. This does not of itself make his views on Christianity christian or theosophical just his. He has been vilified and canonised; both equally just matters of someone's belief but we should try to get the facts right before we launch into 'smart' comments such as yours

He was not consecrated as a bishop in a main stream religion prior to his exposure to Theosophy but many years after, roughly in about 1919 I think. This is well after HPB died and whom he knew quite well.
