Leadbeater needed an historical Jesus to tie in
to his liberal catholic church dogma

In other words, there are two subjects.
1) Existence (or non-existence) of historical Jesus AS WRITTEN IN THE GOSPELS"
2) Accuracy of stories AS WRITTEN IN THE GOSPELS (about Jesus)

When I wrote "If somebody is saying that Jesus did not exist
physically, AS WRITTEN IN THE GOSPELS, I DON'T agree with it.", I was talking about first issue i.e. historical existence or non-existence of Jesus. In that sense common Bible copy, Leadbeater's statements and my above comment agree with each other.
