India has overwhelming number of TS members. To get elected, a candidate
should start visiting all the lodges in India so the members get to know the
candidate. That is what John Coats did and he defeated both Rukmini Arundale
and Radha Burnier, in spite of both well known in India.
.
No amount of display of academic achievements, scholarly talk, writing and
website display is going to do any good.
.
Also, Indian members can be quickly energized by their lodges (at large
members are few in India) if they sense a crisis however sugar coated it may
be. It is also very common to see a high turnout for elections in India and
there is no reason why TS elections should be different.
.
Anyone who has the ambition to become the next President has to consider the
above as there is no short cut nor any trick is going to work. In closing,
let me remind the words of Annie Besant to George Arundale - "This is our
most numerous Section, and you must win its affection, before the election
of 1928."
