Re: Did Leadbeater Encourage "blind following"??

Dear Preethi

I sympathise with your position and have followed your
postings here with sadness. I remember you well from
my stay in Adyar in 1996.

Unfortunately, what you have experienced in Adyar is little
different from that which occurs in many organizations.

We may hope that the elected officials live up to the high
ideals of Theosophy and the Society, but sadly most of us
have our flaws and are sometimes unable to keep kama/manas
in check.

I was also in receipt of outrageous lies and gossip in my
lodge, which went unchallenged by those who should have
taken a stand. Their refusal so to do was explained to
me that it was unbrotherly to disturb the "harmony" of
the lodge!
As I have posted before in this forum, genuine Harmony is
only maintained where truth, courage and honesty are
practiced in opposition to power politics and expediency.

>From my perspective, your decision to remove yourself from
that organization has freed you to live by your own ideals
without the sometimes overwhelming effect of nearby,
destructive energies.

My action was also to withdraw from the Society and a
few of us started our own Theosophical study/practice
group. We have four groups, each meeting weekly, where
we study and compare the original literature with respect
and appreciation, whilst supporting each other in our
attempts to live the life.

I wish you well in your life after the Adyar Theosophical
Society. If our experience is anything to go by, you will
enjoy a genuine honesty and freedom that is too often
lacking in that organization.

Kind regards
Nigel
