I don't think so Chuck, the British were making millions in trade between India and the West.  If anything I would say that trade through India helped in funding the british war efforts, not to mention providing soldiers to boot!

I think liberation in India came just at the end of the war so Gandhi's timing was perfect.  The British were preoccupied in winning back Europe.
