Re: Theos-World Internet - Savior of elderly theosophists

Dear MKR and friends

My views are:

Yes.
Allright let me expand a bit on my thoughts on the matter.

- But, what I am questioning is that what some are calling "tools available to function effectively and
efficiently", will be tools which could lead to materialism more than to theosophical activity. Well, it could.

- And the question is to whom the use of "electricity, air travel, phone communication and
Internet" has become integral to in their lives? Not the 16% of all humans who are starving?

- And I will ask about what other tools will be "equally necessary" on the non-physical and non-materialistic levels?

I for one do not quite consider the promotion of an existence on the physical level a primary theosophical activity.
I consider it as a very secondary activity and something to be rather avoided if theosophically possible.

Yet HPB used the telegraph and Edisons mimeograph etc. etc.
Practical activities are allright. Non-practical cannot be so.

- - -
But HPB also said:
"It must be remembered that the Society was not founded as a nursery for forcing a supply of Occultists -- as a factory for the manufactory of Adepts. It was intended to stem the current of materialism, and also that of spiritualistic phenomenalism and the worship of the Dead. "

And I cannot imagine, that there can not be a misuse taking place among theosophical seekers of the Internet and the use of electricity. Of course something like this is possible.

- - -
To be the so-called Owner or even the user of a computer could perhaps turn out to be something non-compassionate towards the 16% starving and impoverished of the planets population, who live a life without any thought of ever to be able to learn to read, ever to use a computer and of ever getting fat to the extreme. Just because sugar is sweet it does not necessarily imply that it cannot operate as a toxic in the human body, and the same with the use of computers.

There is the intention to use computers and e-mails in ways there are beneficial and constructive. The immediate results appear to be very good. But in the long run the use of computers and calculators will result in severe deterioration of the human intellectual power.

I will chew a bit more on the above, when operating as a theosophical Seeker.

Everyone has to use all tools available to function effectively and
efficiently. Use of electricity, air travel, phone communication and
Internet has become integral to our lives. Of course if you operate on super
physical levels, I am sure other appropriate tools are equally necessary.
