The problem with descriptors like this is that there are important instances where these sorts of simple descriptors aren't actually very realistic, for example there are many more insects than humans, many more microbes than insects (so on,) iow, there are certainly instances wherein smaller is or can actually be quite a bit bigger than large as-of a quality or quantity.
