Re: theos-talk Digital Revolution and Book Publishing & Selling

Thanks for the info.

We will be seeing more of such innovations. In the text book industry, the
availability of scanners is going to hit the publishers real hard in days to
come. Students who are already facing mounting increase in fees can go and
get one copy and scan it and share it. While the ethics and legal issues may
be argued about, the reality usually supercedes everything.

In the theosophical world, the aim of publishing should be to further
disseminate theosophical teachings world-wide and making money should be
secondary.

With many books such as Hodson's Light of the Sanctuary going out of print,
should theosophical students be starved of access?

In the past, the incident that comes to my mind is the famous book by Ernest
Wood - Is this theosophy? which was extremely rare to find any theosophical
library. Now it can be accessed free of charge on-line.

Let us all wait and see how the battle between traditional publishing and
digital revolution turns out.
