Yes. I agree.

When TS Adyar - again - will clearly live up to the below Article XIII from the 1891 Constittution and Rules for the TS, I might join. If they claim that they do, I find that their present day constitution and TS Adyar website is doing a bad job on it - because it is missing this Article XII, which seem to have been deleted almost comletely, or at least partially. That is, with its pages about eminent theosophists - which interestingly flatly contradicts its own Front Page (by the way an excellent one), and its praise of Annie Besant POLITICAL leadership.

"CONSTITUTION AND RULES
OF
THE THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
As Revised in Session of the General Council,
all the Section being represented,
at Adyar, December 27, 1890.

The Theosophist, January 1891"
........

"ARTICLE XIII
Offences

1. Any Fellow who shall in any way attempt to involve the Society In political disputes shall be immediately expelled.

2. No Fellow, Officer, or Council of the Theosophical Society, or of any Section or Branch thereof, shall promulgate or maintain any doctrinas being that advanced, or advocated by the Society.

3. Any Fellow of the Society accused of slandering another Fellow; or of wilfully offending the religious feelings of any other Fellow at any meeting of any Branch or Section; or of being guilty of gross misconduct; or any Fellow convicted of any offence under the Penal laws of the country he inhabits, involving moral turpitude, shall be given an opportunity to defend himself, at a special meeting of such Branch or Section; and on being found guilty, or failing to make valid defence, the Executive of the Section may, if deemed expedient, expel such fellow, notifying the President of the fact that his name may be removed from the register of Fellows; provided, however, that the accused shall have the right of appeal to the President whose decision shall be final; and pending the President's decision his rights of membership shall be suspended. "
(The Theosophist, January 1891)

M. Sufilight proposes:
I can only encourage any member of the present day Theosophical Society to address this issue to any Officer and staff member in the organisation.
If somebody already has done that, I would like to know what the answer was.
Allright?

And I request the leaders of the Theosophical Society to answer this openly, so that anyone interested in the Society will have a clear understanding of why its present day Constitution lack this rejection of political involvement. This must be important especiallt because of the past events of the Society, and Annie Besant's and other past leading members heavy involvement with politics.

And the Theosophical Society aught to explain why, they have changed the objects of the society as they were given in the period 1875-1891 - from having emphasis on eastern teachings to an emphasis on all kinds of teachings.

In 1890 we have:
2. To promote the study of Aryan and other Eastern literatures, religions, philosophies and sciences, and to demonstrate their importance to Humanity.

In 1896 we have:
To encourage the study of comparative religion, philosophy and science.

In 2011 we have:
To encourage the study of Comparative Religion, Philosophy and Science.

If silence to such requests is an expression of altruism or Universal Brotherhood, when one operate with a website like TS Adyar is doing, I wonder if they at all have understood, what altruism really is defined as - and how they in the future plan to carry out the following aim or object stated by the co-founder of the Society named H. P. Blavatsky in her Key to Theosophy:" to reconcile all religions, sects and nations under a common system of ethics, based on eternal verities."?

Please do not reject this noble aim, I beg you.

Altruism:
Altruism is selfless concern for the welfare of others.

Joining Theosophical Society not due to acceptance of its objects but for promotion of some political campaign is shurely the meanest thing.
Local presidents should be warned about this plot.
