Though technically not part of TS, continued membership in TS is a
requirement. Due to misguided understanding one can see certain
exclusiveness and elitism in some of its members.

Years ago, I ran into two members, husband and wife, (husband used to hold
some important job) who used to come to our lodge for the ES meeting which
used to take place before the general lodge meeting and before and after
the ES meeting they never took time to either meet with ordinary members of
the lodge or attend the lodge meetings.

While one cannot question the earnestness or dedication to theosophy of
these individuals, they did not see the importance of ordinary members and
nor the need to participate in the lodge meetings. The irony is that years
later they were involved in high levels of the TS. Such actions do not
throw favorable light on the ES.
