IIT professor cites evolution to brush aside doomsday theories

If you are worried and sleepless over imminent doomsday predictions, you
can rest easy. According to Professor Devdas Menon of IIT Madras, âhorrible
predictionsâ about the days being numbered on Earth are disapproved by the
innate nature of evolution over a period of 13.7 billion years as estimated
by cosmologists.

âIf 13.7 billion years of evolution took place, why would life as we know
it be snuffed out in a moment?â is the question that people have to ask
themselves, he said delivering the âTheosophy Science Lectureâ on
âEvolution and Enlightenmentâ at the ongoing 136th International Convention
of the Theosophical Society here on Tuesday.
