Well, John, you should certainly be one to know on the tech revolution, having worked in it. 'Don't know about the "Maitreya and 80,000 years", which must be some school of Buddhism, and not HPB. Of course I think you would agree that _mental_ development (which is what the tech revolution is) is not the same as _spiritual_ development, but neutral and tending to the lower. (Look at the Nazis with their brilliant minds and inventions, all turned to hideous destruction.)

>Mark,

>Well, there is much more to come, we are now on the "upswing" of the arc and in the "Dawn of Lift of Mind ". The Consciousness of all mankind will continue it's progress and as we are watching apple issues even more amazing personal assistants that are ever more interfaced to the individuals intellectual expansions. They are even working now on mind direct interfaces so the holder of the iPad can "think" the actions it wants and the interface will carry out the psionic instructions. Expansion of mind and consciousness is incremental to the appearances of the future evolutions of the Root Races. Maitreya will come when our lives reach 80,000 years when we no longer have physical forms. Now we are still fixated in the physical but that must change if we are to reach the subtle realm forms of nirmanakaya and sambhogakaya with the immense consciousness transformations that ensue. We haven't seen but the tip of the iceberg that will appear soon. It seems that the "smaller " things become the more knowledge is possible by many orders of magnitude. Today the "Nanoscale" technology is rushing at terrific rate of expansion and revealing immense new possibilities that will allow mankind to manage the world and all that is about him more effectively. It is approaching the point that the entire library of congress will be recorded on a speck the size of one grain of salt! The Great Mirror Wisdom is called the 9th Consciousness in the Mahayana. The "Truti" is the smallest unit in the Hindu, and the "Planck Unit" is the smallest in the western physics. As we increase we are shrinking lol! Laughter resounds everywhere.

>I wonder how long it is all going to last _this_ time, as interpolating from Blavatsky's writings, we've certainly been through technological ages before - and then back to the stone age again for another cycle after it all blows up.

>Britannica stops presses and goes digital

>Film cameras have disappeared and Kodak which was the photo king and
inventor of digital photography has filed for bankruptcy.

>Similar change is taking place in the book publishing industry even though
attempts are made to channel digital publications thru devices such as
Kindle of iPad.

>Theosophy and Theosophists were the pioneers and were at the forefront of
New Age. Pitifully, digital media is one area which the theosophical
organizations and theosophical publishers are far behind the curve and some
times one feels if the aging leaders who are responsible for making
decisions are out of touch with reality or totally confused about the role
played by digital revolution. We rarely seen any of the leaders in Internet
forums and there is no push to make publications available in digital
format which is very easy and inexpensive to distribute. We can understand
the pre digital age in which book publishing is the only way to distribute
theosophical material to the eager theosophical students and others. The
great opportunity presented by digital age has not been taken by the horns
and make theosophical materials available world wide for free. We want more
theosophical students. The current stale status quo is reflected in the
shrinking membership world-wide which is really a pity.

>Here is a news item which should open the eyes as to what is going on in
publishing business.

+++++

>NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- After 244 years, Encyclopedia Britannica will cease
production of its iconic multi-volume book sets.

>Britannica usually prints a new set of the tomes every two years, but
2010's 32-volume set will be its last. Instead, the company will focus
solely on its digital encyclopedia and education tools.

>The news is sure to sadden champions of the printed word, but Britannica
president Jorge Cauz said the move is a natural part of his company's
evolution.

>A publication like Encyclopedia Britannica, which is frequently updated in bound volumes, could exchange its bound-volume format for loose-leaf format, in loose-leaf binders. Then the articles in it could be replaced individually only if and when they need replacing in the light of further discoveries and research. There are likely to be many articles in it in purely non-technical fields such as history and the arts that hardly ever need to be updated.
