Titanic's TS Connection

May 16, 2012 03:19 PM
by Jayananda Hiranandani

This year marks the centenary of the sinking of The Titanic.

One of the passengers who died was Mr.  W T Stead. He was the editor of The Review of Reviews.  He gave Dr. Besant to review Madame Blavatsky's  The Secret Doctrine. Dr. Besant on reading it asked for interview with HPB. This brought her into the TS. This was a turning point in Dr. Besant's  life, who led the TS to its historical zenith. Mr.
Stead also wrote a book,  Annie Besant:Character Sketch.

The film Titanic has a character modelled after Ms. Beatrice Wood according to India Abroad , April 20th,, 2012, p. M3.
