Moprten, John ,all,

ÂVery interesting thread, and the Topic of Mani Kumbum. It seems to have revolved around the Monastery and Temple of Kumbum as the focal point of the origins, and is also directly indicated as a teaching of Samantabhadra. Â"Mani" can be interpreted as the "mental Consciousness" and the Kumbum as "The Hundred Thousand Buddhas" a s al ternate to "prece pts" ultimately it is the Buddhas who "hold" the precepts of the boundless S pace in which Life is ubiquitous and wherein we allÂfind our participation of s amsara called Leela Âor "The Play of Life ". The Buddhist Lineage HoldersÂare also the Precept "holders'Âas are all the V inaya of the lay and ordained monks who obse rv e the 348 P recepts of the sudden vehicle and "the three decisive doctrines of the Vinaya of the Buddha: the discipline of the mind called morality; samadhi which arises because of morality ; and wisdom which comes forth because of samadhi. These then are known as the three fold non-outflow study."(Ref. "A General Explanation of The Essentials of the Sramanera Vinaya And Rules of Deportment b y Tripitika Master Hau, BTTS, p.VII)Â5 is a cardinal num ber of the infrastructure in this id ea element.

ÂÂ It seems logical to me that some one with appropiate credentials like Reigle maight find this important work in one of the several complete Tibetan Legacy Libraries that have been exported from Tibet to India ,America and elsw here. Also here is one book and Author who seems to have an insight :

and another (please restrain your Blavatsky installed engrams , notice the foreword is dedicated by the Dalai Lama - my interest is attracted by the reference to the very ancint western Tibetan Culture of Zhang Zhung )

and here is a Google Search listing for "The Mani Kumbum Root Text"

I have had a careful search for possible downloads of the "Mani Kumbum", but there appear to be none.
However, the search turned up the references to it in "The Secret Doctrine"; and also a number of small PDFs in which were recorded the teachings based on it given at a "Mani retreat" earlier this year, and which make reference to it. The links for the latter are on http://documentsearch.org/pdf/teachings-mani-retreat.html  and

To all with an interest in Trizin Tsering's published translation of the Mani

Pearls Center, singapore 059812

See: www.manikabum.com

The price for the two volume set is not mentioned

I have not seen the Mani Kumbum yet, but I do have a copy of Trizin Tsering's

Dharmakaya Stupa and while it is some what problematic, it is still quite

valuable,
