Arya samaj and The TS -7

The above lines of
correspondence clearly put before the readers the minds of each group, viz. the
AS and the TS. While Swami Dayanand Saraswati was for Vedic Religion,
profession of the Aryan practices and culture, the founders of the TS were interested
in collecting the Wisdom of the Vedas, making their approaches more catholic,
not limited and confining to one religion and practice. Both the groups are sincere in their
undertakings but, however, they could not co-work because of the uniqueness or
incongruity of their individual pursuits. While the founders of the TS appear
to be tolerant, Swamiji does not approve of their freedom in mixing up with
other religious bodies, particularly those of the Buddhist school, which
according to the orientalists of the time was more of a group of atheists.
Prayer and worship to a Personal God is not congenial with the theosophical
thought, which point we shall examine elaborately in the next section.

Swami Dayanand's pride was
hurt largely and in his mission and zeal would have it, he was more anxious to
severe his connections with the TS. He was personally convinced that the
founders of the TS were 'liars' and concealed many facts of their opinions from
him, right from the beginning of their contact. Their honesty of purpose did
not appeal to him and it did not go home well.
